Urban Systems Lab Awarded $50K to Advance China–U.S. Climate Resilience Research Exchange
The Urban Systems Lab was awarded $50,000 from NYU’s Faculty Research Committee in the College of Arts and Science to support the China–U.S. Urban Resilience Exchange (CUREX), a research exchange with colleagues at NYU Shanghai and partners in China, alongside environmental studies engagement on the Washington Square campus. Led by PI Dr. Timon McPhearson, with Co-PIs Dr. Weiqi Zhou and Dr. Madhavi Jain, CUREX strengthens collaboration between NYU and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The initiative advances comparative research on urban heat, health, and resilience through short-term scholarly exchanges, joint modeling, and workshops. The award supports building a durable, transnational research network focused on equitable urban climate adaptation.
