NATURA Global Roadmap for Urban Nature-based Solutions Pre-Launch at the IUCN World Conservation Congress

The NATURA network will be pre-launching the Global Roadmap for Urban Nature-based Solutions (GRM) at the IUCN World Conservation Congress, the world’s largest gathering dedicated to nature conservation and sustainable development.

The GRM is the first global synthesis to chart pathways for accelerating the uptake of nature-based solutions (NbS) in cities, drawing on insights from seven regions, more than 50 authors and contributors, and 36,000+ pieces of scientific and practice-based evidence. Developed through a truly international collaboration of researchers, practitioners, and institutions across six continents, the report provides an essential “compass” for cities seeking to integrate nature into urban planning to advance resilience, biodiversity, and equity.

Dr. Timon McPhearson, co-lead of the Global Roadmap and Professor at New York University, will join colleagues in the IUCN session “Rewilding the Urban Mind: Culture, Education, and Monitoring for Nature-Connected Cities” to present the findings. This session, held on October 13, 2025 from 15:00–16:00, will present key findings and recommendations of the Global Synthesis while also showcasing findings from multiple regions featured in the Global Roadmap regional reports.
